A Place Prepared for Me

So excited to share with you about my visit to One Mission Society headquarters!  Thursday I was able to pick out my apartment in Greenwood- Praise the Lord!!!  I'm so thankful to get to this point, and it's awesome to know where my home will be :)  I picked out an apartment across the hall from one of my co-workers.  It will be such a blessing to live near her.  I'm planning on moving in a month.

One Mission headquarters has been going through a huge renovation this year, updating the headquarters building and getting things up to code.  While some parts of the building are still covered with drywall dust or stripped to studs and bare cement floors, the new communications department is almost finished!  The communications staff has moved into the new offices and the video room and studio is almost complete.  The director of communications had me pick my cubicle and showed me they already have a mailbox with my name on it...it's the little things :)

It has been such a joy to be a part of this staff/community and I have not even moved yet!  The staff has been so welcoming and kind.  Their thoughtfulness in preparing for me, anticipating my move, and encouraging me along the way, has made me feel so loved.  What a gift to be a part of a team like this!

It was such a blessing to have lunch with Susan Loobie, the director of communications, and Lori McFall, the associate editor of Outreach magazine, and their kids.  We had the chance to talk about different types of trips I might take once I'm working, and it was great just to hear them talk about the ins and outs of the communications department, how the need for financial support plays into our roles, and where God might take this ministry in the future.  There is so much I can learn from them.

I can't wait to get started!  Your prayers and support are making this possible- Thank you so much!

Can you tell we're still moving in?

Encouraging as I'm working towards moving.  It's really happening!

The Basics

How did I get here?

After graduating from IU in May 2009, I accepted a position as a missionary with One Mission Society.  I'll be serving as an associate writer and editor.  I’m so thankful for the opportunity to use the passions God has given me for writing, editing, and missions to help fill the need in the communications department at One Mission Society’s headquarters in Greenwood, Ind.

Jesus has truly changed my life, and I’m excited to be working with an organization that aims to show His love and works to create communities for people around the world to hear about His redeeming love and grow in their relationships with Him.

Where I am heading

One Mission Society’s world headquarters in Greenwood, Ind.  As a missionary in the communications department, I’ll be serving full-time as an associate writer and editor.  I’ll also be traveling overseas two or three times a year to participate in short-term projects and write from the field!

In Greenwood, I’ll be writing weekly stories for the One Mission website and working on Outreach magazine.  Besides these two main things, I’ll be working on video projects, radio stories, prayer calendar edits, curriculums for different ministries, and several other tasks.

My purpose within One Mission is to keep people informed about what God is doing and to provide the necessary communications support to keep other missionaries overseas.

Where I am now

This year has been a growing and stretching process for sure.  God blessed me with the opportunity to live and work in Bloomington as I completed orientation and training courses with One Mission and began raising support.

In February, I quit my jobs in Bloomington, and moved back to Terre Haute to work on support-raising full-time and do all I can to pursue this opportunity God has given me.  Since this move, my support has jumped from 30 to 65 percent!  I’m so thankful for how God has been providing!

I can move and start when I’m fully supported financially! My remaining need is $1530/month.  This provides for the cost of me serving at headquarters and overseas, pay, and benefits.

How you can help

1.  PRAY! Please be praying for One Mission's ministries, and that I would be learning what God wants me to in this time.  Please also be praying that He would be providing and connecting me with supporters!

2.  Please consider partnering with me financially.  Last year, One Mission saw 835 people become new believers EVERY DAY! It is amazing to see so many people trusting Jesus and having the opportunity to grow in their relationships with Him!  If you’re interested in being a part of this ministry team through financial support, please let me know!  You can reach me by email at bmech@onemissionsociety.org

Thank you so much for your support and encouragement!  I’m excited to continue with you in this ministry!
